In the distance is the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - approximately 25 miles across.

In the middle of the mountain, is the Watch Tower at Desert Trail about 23 miles from us.
On our way to our movie at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, we saw our first wildlife - 2 young deer.
These are mule deer.
After the movie, we stopped at a market place for our picnic lunch, meat sandwiches, or PB&J, fruit, chips, and drinks.
Off to see more views with a very full stomach!!!!
Freya Castle - 7299 feet
The Kolb brothers, natives of Philadelphia, were avid photographers. In 1902 they decided to make their home on the South Rim. This was 17 years before the Grand Canyon became a national park. They staged pictures and then sold them to visitors. The picture below is of 2 rocks. They put a branch between the 2 rocks and one of them hung from it making it look like he was thousands of feet above the floor of the canyon. In reality, he was only 8 feet up.
This is the oldest juniper 1200 years old.
The next pictures are various views of the Colorado River. It is amazing that it was this river that carved out the Grand Canyon. The first person to discover the Grand Canyon said that it was nothing but waste land and that no one would ever come here.
