That was an oops -- wasn't supposed to post that yet.  Well continuing on.  The Tabernacle was simply amazing - the acoustics were amazing.  Our guide went to the pulpit and dropped 3 straight pins and a nail - you could hear them clearly all the way in the back.  The organ is huge - had 5 keyboards!! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir usually practices in the Tabernacle except in the summer they move to the Conference Center so they have more room for visitors to watch.  The Tabernacle has a huge dome.  Here are some pictures of the Tabernacle.

This is the Assembly Hall.  The outside was made from Temple granite.

This is the Conference Center - tonight the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be rehearsing and we will go to watch!!!

Of course, the highlight was the Temple.
The Temple doors are never opened.  They are a favorite spot for bride's to have there pictures taken.

Statues in the gardens.

Waterfalls

The Beehive House was the home of Brigham Young.  The beehive on the roof represents industry and good work ethic.

The Lion House was home to Brigham Young's wives.

This is the Family History Center - we went in briefly, but didn't do any research -- just not enough time!!

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has just returned from an East Coast trip so we were lucky that they were in town.  They rehearse every Thursday evening from 8-9:30.  The choir and orchestra are all volunteers, but they have to tryout - they are soooo good.  They were rehearsing all their patriotic numbers for the July 4th holiday.  I wish I could have recorded it.  It was worth a trip to Salt Lake just to hear them.

This is my favorite picture -- the Temple at night.
