Today, July 11 - we have been on the road for a month now and have driven 5500 miles.  The Roches - yes, Bernie and Carolyn got up today at 7 AM and left the campground by 8 so we would be able to get a parking space at Old Faithful.  We left West Yellowstone - yesterday I didn't see this and thought it was cool.  It's right in the middle of the street - just like a bear!!
We didn't see any of these in real life - only saw bison, moose, elk and whatever that bird was.

We found a new river that would follow up on our route to Old Faithful.  The Firehole River.
The first basin we passed was Lower Geyser Basin.

We finally got to Old Faithful just before she blew her stack.  Don't let anyone kid you, Old Faithful really isn't that faithful.  They try to perdict when she will blow - it is usually every 80-90 minutes.  According to the movie that was shown in the visitor center, due to shifting of the earth eventually Old Faithful will go dormant.
Today she went off exactly at 10 AM  - we had timed it perfectly.
Here we waited for her and watched....
then she started....

The eruption last about 5 minutes and then she started to quiet down..
We then went to Kepler Cascades
We crossed the Continental Divide three times.  I'm not sure why it is not a straight line, but it's a very squiggly!!!

This is Lewis Lake.  The water was so clear you could see the rocks on the bottom.

Lewis Falls
There was snow right along the roadside.  Someone actually stopped and made a foot high snowman!!

We went into the Grand Teton National Park.  There was no sign until we had driven almost 10 miles.  The park is made up of the Teton Mountain Range -- and yes, Charlotte there were glaciers.  This is Mount Moran 12605 feet - it supports 5 glaciers.

I think that the Grand Teton National Park is a must see as is Yellowstone.  They say the Grand Tetons are the babies of the Rocky Mountains.

Jackson Hole- the Hole is actually a high mountain valley encompassed by the Grand Tetons borderby  the Teton Range on the west and Gros Verde Range on the east, bisected by Snake River.  The Valley is 80 miles long and 15 miles wide.  The town is actually called Jackson.

Archway to park in town made antlers.

The driver looked like he was falling asleep or just didn't want his picture taken.
Tonight we are staying on the Snake River.  You can actually hear it running from the camper.
Tomorrow we are going to start heading for Mt. Rushmore - we are going to take our time and see a few towns in between.  It is close to 700 miles since we are going to go back up north and take the northern route so we can see Cody and Sundance.  So much for today.  Good Night!!
