Yesterday, since it was still early we didn't check in to the campground.  We decided to venture into Yellowstone National Park.  We went in at the West Yellowstone entrance and then headed for the north route.

Yellowstone had a fire in 1988 and the evidence is still here.

It almost looks like Mt. St. Helens blowdown!!

These are pictures of Gibbon Falls.

As we continued to drive north, the traffic came to a halt.  It appeared that a herd of bison were all the road and refused to move.  The rangers were called and eventually they moved down to the grassy area by the stream.  While waiting I saw these pretty flowers.

and the traffic went on forever.....

We finally got our turn at looking at the bison with their calves.

Of course Bernie started singing, "you can't roller skate in a buffalo herd"!!!

While we were watching the bison, I saw something over at a nearby pond but could not identify it.  I thought at first it was a bighorn sheep so I took a picture and Bernie blew it up and it was some kind of big bird.  I was wondering if anyone knows what it is.  Could it be a trumpeter swan?

We went to Canyon Village

Another pretty waterfalls.

On the way out of Yellowstone we passed Beryl Springs.  I was disappointed in my pictures, because you can see the water bubbling up.
