Yesterday, We left Missoula and headed for Yellowstone National Park.  We crossed over several times the Clark Fork River -  we have seen this river it seems like forever.  Hopefully we will loose it soon.
This is the Flint Creek Range with the tallest mountain being Mt. Powell at 10168 feet.

Anaconda, Montana because of its closeness to water and the world richest copper mines, had the first copper smelter, built by an Irish man, Marcus Daly (wonder if he's any relation to our Dalys???).  The only thing left of Daly's smelter is the 585 foot smokestack.
We went throught Butte, Montana.  Copper made Butte to be known as "the richest hill on earth" by producing 20 billion pounds of the metal.  By 1955 most of the high end ore was played out..  It is surrounded by the Beaverton-Deerlodge National Forest.  There were no tall buildings and the town was pretty much spread out throughout the valley.

We crossed the continental divide.

Snow Fences

We passed through the town of Ennis, Montana located in Madison Valley with mountains on both sides.  They have given it an old west flare with an artsy group too.
Unfortunately, there was no room to hitch up my 350 horses!!!
